how to get started homeschooling: First 3 steps

1. Contact your local school district/board of education and request the intent or notification form for home instruction. Submit the form to officially withdraw your child.
2. Read the regulations for your state/local district. Make note of instruction requirements, testing options (if any), extracurricular requirements and/or reviews.
3. Deschool. There is an adjustment period for children who have gone to school. Homeschooling is not the same as traditional school.
