The International Spy Museum (SPY) is an independent nonprofit museum which documents the tradecraft, history, and contemporary role of espionage. It holds the largest collection of international espionage artifacts on public display.

Every nation considers intelligence essential to its national security. The Museum lifts the veil of secrecy on the hidden world of intelligence, exploring its successes and failures, challenges, and controversies. The Museum's mission is to create compelling exhibitions and other learning experiences that shed light on the shadow world of espionage and intelligence, educating and challenging each of us to engage critically with the complex world around us. On this fieldtrip we will explore important topics such as the impact of secrecy on civil liberties, the changing role of technology in intelligence work, and the challenges of disinformation in a social media environment.

meyerhoff symphony-calypso fusion
Drums, Drums, Drums – including steelpan drums – are the focus of this concert. Josanne Francis, steelpan artist, joins the BSO for an exploration of percussion instruments, especially those with pitch. Josanne brings with her a group of middle and high school students from Positive Vibrations Youth Orchestra. Other traditional orchestral percussion instruments like xylophone, and timpani, share the spotlight. Don’t miss it!

bookbinding @ Drama Mama Bookshop
The long-stitch bookbinding method is one of the most simple bookbinding techniques known to man (and woman), it requires no glue, can look as equally rustic as it can professional and offers fantastic binding strength. The technique involves sewing the signatures direct to the cover.
In this workshop, we will use the following materials to make a personalized, unique journal/book:
The Cover- Each cover is made with American made, 100% recycled Baltic Birch Wood. It’s matte, uncoated finish enhances the natural texture. Each cover is laser cut by Drama Mama at a local maker space in Baltimore, MD.
The Background: Personalize your cover by choosing from six different background colors made with acid free cardstock.
Filler Paper: All filler paper, no matter what you choose, is 100% Sugarcane Paper.
CHAPERONES: Due to the size of the bookstore, we are asking only one adult chaperone per child attend this event.

Cirque Zuma Zuma is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Performers train in Kenya and Tanzania before going on tour with the company. Enjoy traditional African dances, South African gumboot dancers, Gabonese tumblers, percussionists, jugglers, acrobats and contortionists in this performance packed with non-stop action and incredible feats. Cirque Zuma Zuma is sure to impress audiences of all ages.

ClimbZone is truly a revolutionary concept in family entertainment and the most unique indoor climbing experience that has ever been created. All our indoor climbing walls are individually themed. At ClimbZone, you and your children can climb to the top of Jack’s giant beanstalk, negotiate an enormous spider web, reach for the stars aboard our giant space rocket, rise to the top of the Empire State Building, scale the ancient bones of a T-Rex, or look each of the Presidents on Mt. Rushmore in the eye.
Our mission is to create a family-friendly atmosphere where parents and children can enjoy indoor rock climbing together.

Your scholars will get fired up about Mathematics and Physics when they see it come to life in a state-of-the-art wind tunnel. Highly trained STEM educators will guide scholars through an immersive, hands-on experience that consists of:

An interactive presentation on real-world STEM applications.

Physics demonstrations in the wind tunnel.

Lab activity and immersive experiments (based on grade level).

Measuring and recording data and interpreting results.

One-on-one flying with a certified world-class iFLY flight instructor.

Founded in 1867, Howard University is a private research university comprised of 14 schools and colleges.
Students pursue 143 programs of study leading to undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees. The University operates with a commitment to Excellence in Truth and Service and has produced one Schwarzman Scholar, three Marshall Scholars, four Rhodes Scholars, 12 Truman Scholars, 25 Pickering Fellows and more than 165 Fulbright recipients. Howard also produces more on-campus African American Ph.D. recipients than any other university in the United States.
Howard is a leader in STEM fields. The National Science Foundation has ranked Howard as the top producer of African-American undergraduates who later earn science and engineering doctoral degrees. The University also boasts nationally ranked programs in social work, business and communications.

We will experience portraiture beyond the frame at the National Portrait Gallery. The collections present people of remarkable character and achievement. These Americans—artists, politicians, scientists, inventors, activists, and performers—form our national identity. They help us understand who we are and remind us of what we can aspire to be. We will discover more about the faces and stories of inspiring Americans particularly African Americans as we visit the new exhibit, I Dream a World: Selections from Brian Lanker’s Portraits of Remarkable Black Women (Part II) as well as Kinship and Block by Block.

mpt station tour
Maryland Public Television, commonly known as MPT, is a public television network that broadcasts throughout the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is Maryland's only statewide broadcaster. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and is a producer of both locally and nationally distributed TV programs and digital content.

Scholars will learn all about MPT’s history and view displays of achievements as Maryland’s only statewide broadcaster. We will get an inside look at current TV technology and visit all three studios, including The Irene and Edward H. Kaplan Studio which boasts almost 8500 square feet of premium production and event space.
