Our Annual

black history Month

Reading challenge

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by Black people and a time for emphasizing not recognizing our vital role in the history of the United States.  Every year I craft our learning experiences, fieldtrips, lessons, projects and readings for the month. You can read more in detail in my blog post here.

But this year, I wanted to do something slightly different. Most of you who follow me know that I am an avid reader and have instilled a love of reading in my three homeschooled children. We want to share our love of reading with you and your young scholars while also highlighting the wonderful books by Black authors.

For this month, 28 days, we challenge you to read one book/story per day to or with your child that is written by a Black author. You can join our challenge by registering below and then using our digital book log (sent after registration) to keep track of books read. At the end of the month, we will select one lucky scholar and family to receive this awesome prize pack:

ALL scholars will receive a certificate of participation and printable bookmark.

Fieldtrips

Check out our upcoming fieldtrips! If you would like to join us, just register using the link below each trip.

Other traditional orchestral percussion instruments like xylophone, and timpani, share the spotlight. Don’t miss it!
